Olympic football winners , check out which countries won the most

Football has been included in every Summer Olympic Games as a men’s competition sport except in 1932 to promote the new FIFA World Cup and we are discussing the Olympic football winners since 1932.

In order to avoid competition with the World Cup, FIFA has restricted the participation of elite players in the men’s tournament in various ways: Currently, squads for the men’s tournament are required to be composed of players under 23 years of age, with three permitted exceptions.

Hungary and Great Britain have the most Olympic gold medals in men’s football, with three each. Hungary won gold medal in 1952, 1964, and 1968 and silver medal in 1972.

On the other hand Great Britain, which does not always participate in the Olympic football event, won a gold medal in the first three events in 1900, 1908, and 1912.

Following with two gold medals each are Argentina, the Soviet Union, Brazil, and Uruguay. The Argentines also win two silver medals, while the Soviets win three bronze medals.

With three silver, two bronze, and two gold medals altogether, Brazil has won the most Olympic medals.

Fourteen teams have won gold once in 28 Olympic tournaments, which include two African teams, Nigeria and Cameroon. No Asian team ever gets a chance to win the gold medal.

let’s check out the Olympic football winners till this date …
