Raphael Varane has announced his official retirement from football at the age of 31 in his social media handles. The french defender is out due to injury in Serie A club Como 1907.

Career summary
Raphael Varane started his professional career at Ligue 1 club Lens in 2010, making his debut at just 17 years old. He played for 1 season and his performances earned him a transfer to Real Madrid in 2011.
Varane easily established himself as a key player for Real Madrid, winning both the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey in his first season. He formed a strong partnership with Sergio Ramos, becoming one of the youngest defenders to win the Champions League in 2014.
Varane’s success continued, as he won three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018. He also won the 2017 La Liga championship and was selected to the UEFA Team of the Year.
In 2021, Varane joined Manchester United on a four-year deal.He made his debut against the Wolves. In Manchester, he failed to meet expectations and joined Como this season.
